Coastal Grand Regional Mall Complex

In a joint venture between Horry County, the City of Myrtle Beach and the Burroughs and Chapin Company, Castles Engineering did a master drainage study of some 1400 acres that would help alleviate flooding and drainage problems in the Race Path Community and areas of the City east of Robert Grissom Parkway.  This was done in connection with the design of the road network surrounding the new Coastal Grand Mall that included 17th Avenue South, Seaboard Street, and Pine Island Road as well as all water and sewer utilities for the Coastal Grand Mall.

The Coastal Grand Mall Complex is inclusive of roadways and outparcels that are located around the perimeter of Coastal Grand Mall, a regional mall. The 1.1 million-square-foot mall opened in March 2004 and will strategically increase to over 1.5 million square feet of retail space. Current anchors include Dillards, Belk, Sears and JC Penny. The mall also includes Dick’s Sporting Goods, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Books-A-Million, a Cinemark Theater complex with stadium seating and 130 in-line stores. The mall is bounded by the Myrtle Beach International Airport (Harrelson Boulevard), U.S. Highway 17-Bypass, U.S. Highway 501 and Robert M. Grissom Parkway. Coastal Grand- Myrtle Beach is a joint venture between CBL & Associates Properties, Inc. of Chattanooga, TN, and Burroughs & Chapin Company.
